The tonsils are out!

This morning at 6 a.m., Cody and I headed to the hospital. It was still dark but Cody was raring to go. Luckily he didn't fully grasp what was about to happen. Here he is in the waiting room.

Soon a nurse took us to the pre-op area where he changed into a hospital gown. Our nurse had gotten a pair of their largest child size pajamas for Cody. We quickly discovered that they weren't large enough, the pants hit him at the knees! So they let him wear his own pj pants with the adult gown. They took his vitals, gave him some liquid that made him sleepy and soon he was out of it. I was able to accompany Cody to the OR and stay with him until he was under. We had some really awesome nurses and doctor that were able to explain things to him in a way that he understood but wasn't scared of what they were telling him. To make things go smoother, his IV was put in after he was asleep. The procedure only took about 20 minutes. It took him fourty minutes to wake up enough for them to remove the breathing tube.

He slept for another hour before waking and asking for something to drink. Our nurse(Michelle) brought Cody a popsicle and he got to watch Over the Hedge.

When it came time to come home he got upset. Code told us that he can't go home yet because they didn't fix his throat. We had to explain that while he was asleep the doctor fixed his throat. We were told that Cody was one of the most like-able kids they've had in quite awhile and that he was a totally awesome patient.
