Spencer's birhtday (part1)

Last Sunday,my little man turned three years old. I swear just the fact that he is three makes him so much older now. After church we sang happy birthday to Spencer. Then he opened his presents from Nana and Grandpa. He love the sword so much that it has already been severely wounded in battle and repaired twice. The fireman's hat was cool until he opened the baseball. He loves sports, football, basketball and most of all baseball.

Then he opened a present to find this ishy, squishy, ooey, stretchy caterpiller.

He doesn't mind it at all from a distance. He still freaks out when it touches him! Silly boy.We didn't have a cake on his birthday because the next evening we went to Grandma and Gramdpa's house to celebrate all the local April birthday's on the Cummns side. We had a ton of fun with the Aunts,Uncles and cousins.

With having six birthdays to celebrate, we took turns singing happy birthday to each of them.

....how does your garden grow?

This year we are finally able to have a garden. It's not very big but the kids were pretty excited. We planted peas, lots and lots of peas, carrots, cabbage and raddishes. Our kids are waiting very impatiently for things to grow. As Cody put it,"Our garden is broken!". As this is our first garden, we shall see what/if anything grows. Happy Gardening!

I was helping Emily with her shoes when she says," Mom, be careful with my toe." I asked her what happened to her toe. She replied," It has a headache. Its brain hurts."

Spring has sprung

Today we hit 75 degrees. It is so nice to feel the warmth of the sun again. After school we went to one of our local elementary schools to let the kids run so that Rob & I could do some metal detecting. Afterwards we came home, barbequed homemade cheeseburgers and had homemade cinnamon rolls for dessert. We love family outings and look forward to many more this summer.

Easter weekend

We had the opportunity to go to Vale,OR this past weekend for our niece Miranda's baptism. The weather was really nice on the way down.
W even got to see a rainbow.
Saturday morning we had an egg hunt with the cousins...
Saturday evening was Miranda's baptism.

Here's some of the cousins, hanging out before the baptism.

Emily with her Uncle Scott

Miranda with the confirmation men. It's wonderful to know that not matter where you go the gospel is the same. The spirit was felt very strongly that evening and also in church the next day.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out, having fun and eating good food. These are random pics from the rest of the time. Jessi is holding Edward, a baby pygmy goat.

Eating yummy pies.

Statues as you enter Pendleton.

Quick catch-up

Last Saturday we were finally graced with the sun's presence! it almost reached 60. So we decided to go to Cody's school and let the kids play while Rob and I did some tresure hunting. Rob got a metal detector about a year ago. Last month, on a whim, he got one for myself. We went a few times last fall but didn't find much. At Cody's school we hit the jackpot (for our first time out this year anyway). For the first time out with my detector this is what I found...
and this is what Rob found....This is what it looked like after we cleaned it all up and this is what it looked like while we were cleaning our treasures...We got some pretty cool reactions when we mixed salt, baking soda, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. This part was almost as fun as finding the treasures!

Then on Sunday we celebrated my hubby's 36th birthday. Rob said he had a great day, he got to cuddle his kids, watch conference and eat chocolate cake. He also made bread in between sessions. He makes some really yummy bread. Spencer felt that he had to watch it and make sure that it turned out just right. He loves his daddy's bread too.

Then today Rob got the rest of his birthday presents and we went to Golden Corral for his birthday dinner.

The tonsils are out!

This morning at 6 a.m., Cody and I headed to the hospital. It was still dark but Cody was raring to go. Luckily he didn't fully grasp what was about to happen. Here he is in the waiting room.

Soon a nurse took us to the pre-op area where he changed into a hospital gown. Our nurse had gotten a pair of their largest child size pajamas for Cody. We quickly discovered that they weren't large enough, the pants hit him at the knees! So they let him wear his own pj pants with the adult gown. They took his vitals, gave him some liquid that made him sleepy and soon he was out of it. I was able to accompany Cody to the OR and stay with him until he was under. We had some really awesome nurses and doctor that were able to explain things to him in a way that he understood but wasn't scared of what they were telling him. To make things go smoother, his IV was put in after he was asleep. The procedure only took about 20 minutes. It took him fourty minutes to wake up enough for them to remove the breathing tube.

He slept for another hour before waking and asking for something to drink. Our nurse(Michelle) brought Cody a popsicle and he got to watch Over the Hedge.

When it came time to come home he got upset. Code told us that he can't go home yet because they didn't fix his throat. We had to explain that while he was asleep the doctor fixed his throat. We were told that Cody was one of the most like-able kids they've had in quite awhile and that he was a totally awesome patient.
